Yes I know it is a foreign made metal injected 1911 but it fit my budget and it is my entry into the 1911 world and the first .45ACP handgun I have ever owned.
First things first, out of all of the RIA 1911's that I have picked up and held at SSP this is by far the best made that I have seen come from them, not to say that the others are bad, it's just that the Match is assembled and hand fitted in the RIA Custom Shop and the time that they take to assemble these pistols really does show.
There aren't any rough edges to be found, adjustable rear sight and fiber optic front sight are a nice addition to have. The trigger pull is light and crisp and very predictable. The weight is enough to allow you to quickly get back on target.
Now that I have run over 400 rounds through it and it has begun to loosen up a bit I can give a decent range review of it.
The front fiber optic sight paired with the LPA rear sight is an awesome part of the actual pistol, I love the fact that I can correct my lack of accuracy with just the turn of the adjustment screws on the rear sight. The front fiber optic stands out once outside, even with cloud cover it was still easy to quickly pick up and get on target.
The trigger is amazing, I would compare it somewhat to my Geiselle SD-E trigger, very little take up and when its at it's breaking point it is extremely crisp like breaking a candy cane.
The magazine that came with it works perfectly, unlike the 3 cheap magazines that I picked up at a local gun show (they work but do not lock the slide back).
So far I have run Fiocchi, Aguila, PMC, Federal, and Winchester through it. The only ammo it had an issue with was the PMC ammo and that was when paired with the cheap magazines I have, it caused a few FTF's but were quickly fixed by racking the slide back again. 2 or 3 times the mag had to be dropped, but this was only with the PMC ammo.
Overall I am a big fan of the RIA Match 1911, if I had the opportunity to pick up another one I would not even hesitate.
